Mark Hewitt (b. 1955, Stoke-on-Trent, England) North Carolina studio pottery jug, wheel-thrown with rounded ovoid body, short neck and applied handle, featuring an incised decorative band around the shoulder beneath a dark glaze accent. Hewitt apprenticed with renowned English potter Michael Cardew and later Todd Piker before establishing his pottery in Pittsboro, North Carolina, in 1983. His work combines English studio-pottery training with North Carolina's historic traditions of wood firing, salt and ash glazing, and large-scale vessel making. 9" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
