Jugtown Ware, Moore County, North Carolina, art pottery vase, circa 1930, of rounded ovoid form with short neck and covered in the celebrated Chinese Blue glaze, displaying mottled turquoise-blue coloration over reddish-brown tones. Jugtown's Chinese Blue wares rank among the most recognizable examples of early twentieth-century North Carolina art pottery. Comparable circa 1930 examples are documented with mottled blue, turquoise and red surfaces and impressed Jugtown Ware marks. Jugtown was founded in the early twentieth century through the efforts of Jacques and Juliana Busbee, who helped bring international attention to the traditional potters of the Seagrove region. 6" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
