Jugtown Ware, Moore County, North Carolina, tall pottery vase, circa 1940, wheel-thrown with an elongated ovoid body, short flared rim and small applied lug handles at the shoulder. The upper portion is covered in a flowing olive-green glaze that terminates in long drips over the largely unglazed lower body, creating a strong contrast between glazed and exposed clay surfaces. Jugtown became one of the most influential names in the revival of traditional North Carolina pottery, combining regional forms and materials with Asian-inspired shapes and glazes. 9" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
