Edwin "Nub" Meaders (1921–2015), Cleveland, Georgia, large folk pottery grape pitcher, wheel-thrown with applied handle and richly decorated with raised clusters of individually modeled grapes, vines and green leaves against a deep blue glazed ground. Meaders belonged to one of Georgia's most celebrated traditional pottery families and produced both utilitarian forms and decorative folk pottery. His grape-decorated vessels are a recognized part of his work; documented examples include pitchers with twin raised grape-cluster decoration. This substantial pitcher combines traditional Southern pottery construction with unusually bold sculptural surface ornament. 10" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
