Billy Ray Hussey (b. 1955, Robbins, North Carolina), elaborate glazed pottery figural sculpture depicting legendary North Carolina potter Burlon Craig, shown standing behind an assemblage of pottery including a prominent face jug and several smaller vessels. A wonderfully self-referential work of North Carolina pottery depicting one traditional potter through the hands of another. Hussey grew up in the Seagrove pottery tradition; his grandfather was potter J.H. Jones and his great-uncle was Melvin L. Owens. His work is represented in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. 12" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
