Joe Owen (1910–1986), North Carolina art pottery Rebecca pitcher, of tall baluster form with elongated loop handle, pinched pouring lip and warm multicolored glaze with vertical runs of brown, green and ochre. Joseph "Joe" Owen was the youngest son of noted potter Rufus Owen and belonged to one of North Carolina's important pottery families. He operated Glenn Art Pottery before establishing Joe Owen Pottery in Seagrove and was particularly accomplished at throwing large forms and producing experimental glazes. 21" mint condition as fired from the aritst.
